Ceilings4LIFE: Closing the loop
European initiative for a circular value chain for glass wool in ceilings and acoustic absorbers.
About the Ceilings4LIFE Program
Saint-Gobain Ecophon leads a European LIFE initiative focused on establishing a fully circular value chain for glass wool in ceiling and wall absorbers.
The program has a budget of 3 million euros, with 1.8 million euros coming from European Union funding (grant no. 101216180).
The initiative aims to:
- Build efficient material flows and logistics for post-consumer acoustic products
- Scale Refiber™ technology for high-quality recycled ceiling solutions
- Reduce carbon emissions through sustainable manufacturing
TREE Capital Poland's Role
As a Ceilings4LIFE consortium partner, TREE Capital Poland is responsible for a key element of the value chain - waste management.
Our tasks in the project include:
- Organizing logistics for collecting post-consumer acoustic products
- Sorting and preparing materials for the recycling process
- Transporting materials to production facilities
- Managing waste streams from demolition and renovation projects
We leverage our extensive experience in construction material management and recycling to ensure efficient secondary material flow within the program.
Waste Management
Collection - organizing pickup points for materials from construction projects
Sorting - segregation and preparation of materials for recycling
Transport - logistics for delivering materials to Refiber™ facilities

Refiber™ Technology
An innovative approach to glass wool recycling that stands out from traditional methods.
No Fiber Remelting
Refiber™ technology transforms post-consumer materials into high-quality acoustic solutions without remelting glass fibers. This significantly reduces energy consumption in the production process.
CO₂ Emission Reduction
Thanks to the innovative production process, Refiber™ technology enables CO₂ emission reduction of 714 tons annually, contributing to the fight against climate change.
High Recycled Content
Boards produced with Refiber™ technology can contain up to 93% recycled materials, making them one of the most eco-friendly acoustic solutions on the market.
Quality Preservation
Refiber™ products maintain full acoustic and insulation properties, offering the same quality as traditional ceilings with significantly lower environmental impact.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Ceilings4LIFE program?
Ceilings4LIFE is a European LIFE initiative led by Saint-Gobain Ecophon, aimed at establishing a fully circular value chain for glass wool in acoustic ceilings and wall absorbers. The program has a budget of 3 million euros, with 1.8 million coming from EU funding.
What is TREE Capital Poland's role in the project?
TREE Capital Poland is a consortium partner responsible for waste management - the logistics of collecting, sorting, and transporting post-consumer acoustic products for recycling. We leverage our experience in managing construction material streams.
What is Refiber™ technology?
Refiber™ is an innovative technology developed by Saint-Gobain Ecophon that transforms post-consumer materials into high-quality acoustic solutions without remelting the fibers. This approach significantly differs from traditional recycling methods and enables substantial CO2 emission reduction.
What environmental benefits does the program provide?
The program contributes to CO2 emission reduction of 714 tons annually, enables production of boards with up to 93% recycled content, and helps manage part of the 2.5 million tons of mineral wool waste generated annually in Europe.
